    Operator Regularization

    Get PDF
In this thesis, a computational method for perturbative quantum field theory, known as operator regularization, is presented. It is used in conjunction with the Feynman path integral and background field quantization. Green\u27s functions are evaluated using a perturbative expansion due to Schwinger, which employs an expansion of the generating functional in powers of the background field. In contrast to the usual Feynman diagramatic technique, this expansion is made after the evaluation of the path integral. By regulating only the operators occurring in the generating functional, operator regularization does not explicitly break the symmetries of the original lagrangian. No ambiguities arise in the evaluation of anomalies. Surprisingly, it also avoids the occurrence of ultraviolet divergences. At one-loop order, operator regularization is equivalent to dimensional regularization in conjunction with {dollar}M\overline S{dollar} renormalization for purely bosonic theories. Several computations serve to illustrate this technique: the two- and three-point functions in spinor QED are evaluated to one-loop order and are shown to satisfy the Ward identities; the U(1) axial anomaly is computed, and scalar theories are also examined to two-loop order.;Operator regularization is well suited to computations in supersymmetric theories. Explicit calculations to two-loop order in the component Wess-Zumino (WZ) model show that the two- and three-point WTST identities are satisfied. No infinities arise at any stage of these computations. The anomalies in the supercurrent supermultiplet are also evaluated by considering specific one-loop processes

    Medicinal Orchids: An Overview

    Get PDF
Orchids are the largest and most diverse group among the angiosperms. They are cultivated for beautiful flowers. They are widely known for their economic importance but less for their medicinal value. Some plants like Dendrobium crumenative, Eulophia campestris, Orchis latifolia, Vanda roxburghii and Vanda tessellata have been documented for their medicinal value. Phytochemically some orchids have been reported to contain alkaloids, triterpenoids, flavonoids and stilbenoids. Ashtavarga (group of eight medicinal plants) is vital part of Ayurvedic formulations like Chyvanprasha and four plants viz, Riddhi, Vriddhi, Jivaka and Rishbhaka have been discussed as possible members of family Orchidaceae. Recently there has been tremendous progress in medicinal plants research; however orchids have not been exploited fully for their medicinal application. The article reviews medicinally important orchids along with recent pharmacological investigations

LOAM: Lidar Odometry and Mapping in Real-time

Abstract — We propose a real-time method for odometry and mapping using range measurements from a 2-axis lidar moving in 6-DOF. The problem is hard because the range measurements are received at different times, and errors in motion estimation can cause mis-registration of the resulting point cloud. To date, coherent 3D maps can be built by off-line batch methods, often using loop closure to correct for drift over time. Our method achieves both low-drift and low-computational complexity with-out the need for high accuracy ranging or inertial measurements. The key idea in obtaining this level of performance is the division of the complex problem of simultaneous localization and mapping, which seeks to optimize a large number of variables simultaneously, by two algorithms. One algorithm performs odometry at a high frequency but low fidelity to estimate velocity of the lidar. Another algorithm runs at a frequency of an order of magnitude lower for fine matching and registration of the point cloud. Combination of the two algorithms allows the method to map in real-time. The method has been evaluated by a large set of experiments as well as on the KITTI odometry benchmark. The results indicate that the method can achieve accuracy at the level of state of the art offline batch methods. I

Usage of Information Sources and Services in Selected Engineering and Management Institute Libraries of Haryana: An Assessment

    Get PDF
The present study is evaluates the user experience towards library information resources and services in selected engineering and management institutes of Haryana. The researcher distributed 432 questionnaires among faculty members, PG and UG students of YMCA Faridabad, MDU Rohtak and DCRUST Sonipat Engineering and management institute libraries and found 325(75.23%) responses received back. It was found that the majority of users were overall satisfied with available library information sources and services. The study also found that some of library information sources and services were not much fully utilized by the faculty members and the students. Therefore, it is also suggested for providing effective library services, library need to focus for the utilization of the available resources and improving quality of services to promote optimum utilization of electronic information resources and services to fulfill users’ information needs

Acanthus ilicifolius Linn. (Acanthaceae) is relatively lesser-known, yet important medicinal plant of Herbal Materia Medica. The plant is used in traditional systems of medicine, including Traditional Indian Medicine (TIM) or Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). The plant is reported to contain phytochemicals including alkaloid and wide range of glucosides (lignan and phenylethanoid). In traditional medicine, the plant is used in the treatment of diseases ranging from snake bite to skin diseases. Laboratory investigations on extracts of the plant have demonstrated significant pharmacological activities like antioxidant, anticarcinogenic, anti-osteporotic and hepatoprotective. The review analyses traditional medicinal usage, and phyto-pharmacological investigations done on the medicinal plant

Guaranteed Road Network Search with Small Unmanned Aircraft

    Get PDF
The use of teams of small unmanned aircraft in real-world rapid-response missions is fast becoming a reality. One such application is search and detection of an evader in urban areas. This paper draws on results in graph-based pursuit-evasion, developing mappings from these abstractions to primitive motions that may be performed by aircraft, to produce search strategies providing guaranteed capture of road-bound targets. The first such strategy is applicable to evaders of arbitrary speed and agility, offering a conservative solution that is insensitive to motion constraints pursuers may possess. This is built upon to generate two strategies for capture of targets having a known speed bound that require searcher teams of much smaller size. The efficacy of these algorithms is demonstrated by evaluation in extensive simulation using realistic vehicle models across a spectrum of environment classes

    Fibro-osseous pseudotumor of the digit

    Get PDF
Fibro-osseous pseudotumor of the digitis a very rare benign lesion however it may be a cause of concern as it forms differential diagnosis to aggressive bone forming tumors like extraskeletal osteosarcoma. Till date only a few cases have been reported in the literature. We came across a case of  7yr old female presented with complains of  post traumatic progressively growing hard swelling present on the palmar surface of the hand at the hypothenar region for last 6 months. Investigations i.e. X-rays, MRI and CT scan were done along with other blood investigations to rule out other common diseases such as exostosis or myositis ossificance or extraskeletal osteosarcoma. Excisional biopsy of the lesion confirmed the diagnosis of fibro-osseous pseudotumor of the digit.
